Description
Two Jade decorative ceremonial blades comprising one scimitar-form piece and one Jian-style sword. The scimitar-form blade is carved from off-white Jade with visible russet iron-stained inclusions and grayish mottling. The openwork handle depicts a stylized female figure in flowing robes, while the curved blade features three circular pierced holes. The Jian-style sword is carved from dark green and brown Jade, based on archaic Zhou or Han dynasty forms. The blade is decorated with incised geometric patterns and stylized taotie monster mask motifs, inlaid with a gold-coloured material. The hilt and pommel are finished with scrollwork and dot patterns, topped with a lighter-coloured cap. No maker’s marks, reign marks, or signatures are visible on either piece.
