The second plaque, titled Romance, shows an eighteenth-century couple in a parkland setting, the man in a magenta frock coat and the woman in a blue gown. This second plaque bears a printed signature at the lower right reading M. Chayron. Each frame is backed with a rectangular paper label with a purple border reading Genuine Staffordshire Ceramics, Hand-made in England by HARLEIGH CHINA CO. AMISON STREET LONGTON STOKE-ON-TRENT, ST3 1LD TEL (0782) 312171. The labels further identify the pieces as Series: MURILLO and Series: ROMANCE, noting PATENT AND REGISTERED DESIGN PENDING No. 953941 953942 953943 and COPYRIGHT 1971.

Condition report:

The ceramic plaques are in good condition with no visible chips, cracks, or crazing across the surfaces (photos 1 and 2). The gilded frames show light surface wear and minor dust accumulation, particularly within the recessed areas of the rope-twist moulding. The paper labels on the reverse are intact though exhibit age-related yellowing and minor tearing around the metal hanging rings (photo 3). The velvet backing fabric shows minor areas of flattening from contact with the frame edges.
