Description
A vintage Silver brooch featuring a central oval black onyx cabochon held in a rub-over bezel setting. The stone is framed by an intricate border of openwork filigree wirework, arranged in a repeating pattern of scrolled and circular motifs. The reverse is fitted with a horizontal pin and a C-clasp closure. A secondary safety chain is attached to the filigree frame, terminating in a separate small safety pin. The reverse of the central setting is stamped with the characters 925.
Length: 3.8 cm.
Condition report:
The brooch is in good vintage condition. The silver shows significant surface oxidation and tarnish, particularly to the reverse (photo 2). The filigree wirework appears intact with no visible breaks or losses. The central onyx cabochon is secure within the setting and shows a smooth, polished surface free of chips or deep scratches (photo 1). The pin mechanism and safety chain appear functional.
