Description
A collection of printed metal advertising signs, constructed from thin-gauge steel with a clear coating and individually wrapped in plastic sleeves. The collection features various historic American petroleum brands and motifs. Notable examples include a Royaline Hi-Test Gasoline sign with the Pennsylvania Motor Oils ROC logo, a Montana Gasoline sign featuring a Native American profile, and a Texaco sign with the classic red star and green T logo. Other signs in the assortment depict Buffalo Gasoline, Sun-Rae Motor Oil with F.B. Rae Oil Co. Rochester, N.Y. text, and Sinclair Oiline Motor Oil featuring the green Dino dinosaur mascot. The collection also includes signs for MFA Oil Co., Magnolia Motor Oil, and Red Hat Motor Oil & Gasoline. Several signs, including the Mobil Oil and Sun-Rae examples, exhibit a faux-distressed printed finish intended to simulate age and weathering. A ruler visible in the background is marked A TRADE MARK OF THE SINGER MANUFACTURING COMPANY and SINGER. One sign includes a printed mark reading MELLOWED 80 MILLION YEARS, while the Red Hat sign bears the text INDEPENDENT OIL and TRADE MARK.
