Description
A nickel plated brass circular calculator of pocket watch form, designed for technical calculations within the textile industry. The double-sided instrument features two knurled adjustment knobs and a central stem. One face is printed with logarithmic scales and is marked FOWLER’S TEXTILE CALCULATOR SHORT SCALE TYPE, FOWLER & CO MANCHESTER, and PATENT. The reverse face features an extensive series of industry-specific conversion tables for weft, looms, reeds, and yarn cops, marked FOWLER’S TEXTILE CALCULATOR PATENT and GUARANTEED FOWLER & CO MANCHESTER ENG. The calculator is housed in its original square nickel plated protective case with rounded corners. The interior is lined with purple velvet, the lid bearing a gold-stamped label reading Fowler & Co SCIENTIFIC CALCULATOR SPECIALISTS Manchester ENGLAND. The back of the outer case is stamped with the characters Fowler’s CALCULATOR.
