Lot 139:
Description
A 20th-century Chinese export porcelain vase of baluster form, marked Zhong Guo Zhi Zao and decorated in a quilted scale pattern. The vessel features a flared rim and a spreading foot. The exterior is decorated with an all-over imbricated pattern executed in light blue and ochre enamels, further detailed with raised white moriage-style accents and small red dots. The shoulder and foot are bordered by black-ground bands containing stylised tan floral blossoms and scrolling gilt-effect foliate motifs. The rim is finished with a gold-toned band. The interior and base are coated in a plain white glaze. The base bears a red stamped mark within a diamond-shaped frame, featuring a triangle above the Chinese characters for Zhong Guo Zhi Zao and the English text MADE IN CHINA.
Condition report:
The vase is in good overall condition. There are no visible chips, cracks, or evidence of restoration. Minor shelf wear and darkening are present on the unglazed foot rim. Light surface wear to the gilded rim is consistent with age and handling.
