Description
A commercial wax sealing set titled The Georgian Sealing Set, presented in its original fitted case. The set comprises a spirit lamp featuring a polished metal circular base and a glass fuel reservoir, a metal melting spoon with a pouring lip and a turned wooden handle, and a metal desk seal with a plain handle and an unexamined matrix. The kit is supplied with a quantity of dark purple or black sealing wax beads and several larger wax fragments. The interior lid is lined with green silk and gold-stamped with the text THE GEORGIAN SEALING SET, alongside smaller text including PATENT and SILKOTY. The set is of United Kingdom origin, dating to the early 20th century.
Condition report:
The exterior box shows significant wear, including scuffing, fraying, and loss to the textured paper covering at the edges and corners. The interior green silk lining remains largely intact with clear gold lettering, showing light staining and impressions from the tools. Metal components exhibit surface tarnish and heat marks from previous use. The glass reservoir is intact. The wax supplies are used and incomplete.
