Description
A vintage English sporting-style hip flask comprising a glass vessel partially encased in a stitched brown leather sleeve. The flask features a white metal screw-top cap with a ribbed neck. Accompanying the flask is a coordinating tapered white metal cup or beaker, featuring a golden-toned gilt-washed interior. The leather sleeve is constructed with machine-stitched perimeter detailing and covers the lower portion of the glass body. The metal components are unattributed, with no visible hallmarks or maker’s marks, though the style is consistent with silver-plated or pewter field accessories. The design is characteristic of traditional British field and hunting equipment from the mid-20th century.
Condition report:
The lot is in good vintage condition. The leather sleeve shows surface scuffing and minor staining, particularly to the base. Metal components of both the flask and the cup exhibit light tarnishing, surface oxidation, and minor scratches commensurate with age and use. The gilt finish within the cup remains largely intact with minor wear. The glass body appears free from visible cracks or chips.
