Description
An open-faced pocket watch produced by the firm Fattorini and Sons of Bradford. The watch features a white enamel dial with black Roman numeral hour markers, a rail-track minute ring, and a subsidiary seconds dial located at the 6 o’clock position. The dial is signed Fattorini and Sons Bradford. The case is constructed from sterling silver and includes a hinged front cover with a glass crystal and a hinged rear cover with an inner dust lid. The dust lid features two apertures for key-winding and hand-setting. Internal hallmarks include the Lion Passant for sterling silver, the anchor symbol for the Birmingham assay office, a lowercase letter c date mark, and the maker’s mark F and S.
Case size: Standard pocket watch size (not measured).
Condition report:
The enamel dial exhibits significant hairline cracks and visible damage, notably between the 7 and 9 o\'clock positions and surrounding the subsidiary seconds dial. The silver case shows heavy tarnishing and surface oxidisation throughout, with light surface scratches and minor indentations consistent with age and use. The movement is untested and the winding key is not present. The glass crystal is intact with minor surface wear.
