Description
A collection of Victorian and later desk accessories comprising inkwells and a stamp box. The group includes a large pewter capstan-style inkwell featuring a wide flared circular base and a central cylindrical body decorated with horizontal reeded bands. The top is pierced with five circular pen-holder apertures and fitted with a central hinged lid, containing a dark ceramic or glass liner. Also included is an ornate cast brass stamp box of rectangular form, containing internal compartments for postal stamps. The lid and plinth-style base are decorated in high relief with scrolling foliate and floral motifs in the Rococo revival style, raised on four integral shaped feet. The collection further contains a heavy moulded glass inkwell of dome-shaped form, fitted with a hinged metal collar and lid featuring a small thumbpiece. Completing the group is a small cast brass inkwell with a cylindrical body and domed hinged lid, mounted upon a decorative square-form base with cast scrolling foliate patterns and shaped corners.

Condition report:
The pewter inkwell exhibits a consistent dull grey patina with surface scratches and wear commensurate with age. The brass items show notable tarnish and verdigris, particularly within the recessed areas of the castings, with general surface wear and loss of original polish. The glass inkwell remains intact with minor surface abrasions and significant tarnish to the metal mounts. All pieces show wear consistent with domestic use.
