Lot 197:
Description
A late 19th or early 20th-century French carriage clock featuring a brass Corniche style case. The case is constructed with five bevelled glass panels to the front, back, sides, and top, and is fitted with a hinged carrying handle. The white enamel dial features black Roman numeral hour markers, an outer minute track, and blued steel moon-style hands. The mechanical eight-day timepiece movement includes a platform lever escapement visible through the top oval glass aperture. The backplate is stamped with an oval MADE IN FRANCE mark and a circular trademark depicting a lion, attributed to the makers Duverdrey and Bloquel. The backplate also features a regulator lever marked S and F for slow and fast.
Height excluding handle: 4.75 inches
Width: 3.25 inches.
Condition report:
The brass case shows a natural aged patina and surface tarnishing throughout. The enamel dial appears to be in good condition with no visible cracks or hairlines. The glass panels are intact. The movement is untested and no winding key is present. A professional service is recommended for mechanical clocks.
