Description

A collection of approximately twenty-five commemorative and service medals, badges, and tokens, presented in a vintage brass-bound wooden box. Key items within the group include a George V and Queen Mary 1935 Silver Jubilee commemorative white metal medal and a white metal commemorative medal for the launch of hull 534, the RMS Queen Mary, in September 1934, featuring a relief of the ocean liner. The collection also contains a cased medal inscribed Eberhard Im Bart Erster Stifter with dates 1445-1496, commemorating the founder of the University of Tübingen. Service and sporting items include a long-service medal with a green ribbon and a bar inscribed 25 Year, a large bronze medal for the Waterside Half Marathon, and various other medals with tri-colour ribbons. Additional pieces include an enamel star-form badge with a central shield depicting a figure on a blue ground, a cast brass dragon-form pendant, and a bronze-finish medal depicting St. George and the Dragon. The items are housed in a rectangular brass box of 20th-century manufacture. The exterior features embossed geometric and foliate decorative panels to the lid and a hatched border to the body. The box is wood-lined and stands on four ball feet. The base frame is stamped with the number 28 and a small, unidentified geometric mark.

Box width: 15cm

Box height: 6.5cm.

Condition report:

The collection is in generally good vintage condition. The medals and badges show varying degrees of surface wear, tarnishing, and patination consistent with age. Some ribbons exhibit fraying and fading. The brass box shows expected surface oxidation and minor wear to the internal wooden lining, but remains structurally sound.
