Description
An oval costume brooch featuring a central oval glass cabochon. The cabochon is designed with iridescent green and blue foil-like inclusions against a dark ground, in the style of Eilat stone or black opal. The central stone is set within a decorative twisted-wire border and surrounded by a halo of sixteen round clear-faceted paste rhinestones. The setting is constructed from a silver-tone base metal. The reverse is fitted with a horizontal pin and a simple C-clasp mechanism. No maker’s marks or hallmarks are present.
Condition report:
The brooch is in good vintage condition. The central glass cabochon shows minor surface scuffing and light wear. All sixteen border stones are present and intact. The silver-tone metal setting on the reverse exhibits superficial scratches and moderate tarnishing consistent with age and use.
