Description

A decorative bottle pourer and stopper featuring a cast silver-coloured metal finial in the form of a stylised bird, possibly a cockatoo or parrot. The bird is designed with a crest and circular eyes, with an open beak serving as the pouring spout. The body is decorated with an overlapping scale-like pattern representing feathers. The metal finial is mounted onto a tapered cork base which contains an internal metal tube to allow for the passage of liquid. The design is in the style of mid-century Scandinavian or European silverware, with similar examples attributed to makers such as Magnus Aase or Lutz and Weiss. Three small, stamped punch marks are visible on the lower rim of the metal bird figure where it joins the cork, though these are currently illegible and the metal purity remains unconfirmed.

Condition report:

The metal finial shows surface tarnishing and minor wear consistent with use. The cork base is heavily worn with significant losses and crumbling to the exterior.
