Description
A small decorative figurine depicting Budai, the Laughing Buddha, in a seated pose. The figure is constructed from a translucent green composition material, such as resin or glass, with a high-gloss finish resembling faux jade. Budai is depicted with a jovial expression, elongated earlobes, and a large exposed abdomen, holding a string of prayer beads in his right hand. The material exhibits an apple-green colour with varying degrees of translucency. The base features a circular concave indentation with no visible maker marks or inscriptions. This type of figurine is a common contemporary decorative object within the UK market.
Condition report:
The figurine is in good condition. There is a light accumulation of dust in the deeper recesses of the moulding and some minor surface scuffs. The base shows some adhesive residue from a previous label.
