Description
A substantial architectural door knocker featuring a classical lion head mask backplate. The knocker is fitted with a heavy U-shaped hinged bail handle characterised by decorative turned mouldings. The piece is sand-cast, exhibiting a granular texture on the reverse. It retains two threaded mounting bolts for door attachment, one of which is fitted with a brass cap nut. The material is cast brass with a heavy, aged verdigris patina throughout. There are no visible maker marks or inscriptions.

Condition report:
The item is in a weathered as-found condition consistent with long-term outdoor use. It features a deep green oxidation (verdigris) across most surfaces. The mounting bolts show significant surface rust and corrosion. The casting is intact with no visible cracks, though it shows surface pitting and wear consistent with age.
