Description
This lot comprises two black bowler hats of varying sizes and construction quality. The larger hat is a traditional fur felt bowler by the London-based firm G. A. Dunn & Co. Ltd. The interior features a white pleated silk-effect lining with a printed label for G. A. Dunn & Co Ltd, Piccadilly Circus, 373-375 Strand, 122 Shaftesbury Ave, London. The tan leather sweatband is embossed with the maker’s name and MADE IN ENGLAND. It is finished with a matching black grosgrain ribbon band and a bound brim edge. The smaller hat is made from stiffened black felt with a satin-effect ribbon band. This hat is unlined and does not contain a leather sweatband.
Large hat length: 31 cm
Small hat length: 27 cm.
Condition report:
The G. A. Dunn & Co. hat is in fair to good vintage condition. There is visible surface dust and lint throughout. The leather sweatband shows darkening and wear consistent with age. There is minor fraying to the brim edge. The smaller hat is in good overall condition with minor surface dust.
