Description
A diverse collection of mid-20th-century items including scientific instruments, personal care tools, and various decorative objects. Notable scientific items include a British Thornton mark two slide rule in its original red cardboard box, a white folding rule marked FRANTOS, a traditional wooden folding carpenter’s rule, and a brass spring balance scale. Personal care items comprise a Viceroy dry shaver in a maroon embossed case, a set of three manual chrome-plated hair clippers, and a silk-lined manicure set with tools featuring bone-coloured handles. Shaving equipment includes a wooden-handled shaving brush and several safety razors, one housed in a blue presentation box featuring a coat of arms. Decorative pieces include a carved dark wood figure of a man with a staff, a miniature Cyberman figurine, a porcelain cow with black and white markings, a millefiori glass paperweight, and a small brass mantel clock. The collection is rounded out by office and hardware items such as two metal staplers, an ornate letter opener with blue glass bead decoration, a wooden box containing steel ball bearings, and a small metal C-clamp. A silver-toned double-aperture photo frame or brooch is also included in a blue presentation box.
Condition report:
All items are in used, vintage condition showing varying degrees of wear. Metal components exhibit surface oxidation, tarnish, and minor pitting. The original boxes for the slide rule and dry shaver show edge wear and scuffing. The wooden box for the ball bearings is heavily worn. Mechanical components including the hair clippers, staplers, and clock are untested for functionality.
