Lot 120:
Description
This collection of six framed silver-plated miniature relief plaques is from the series I Capolavori dell Arte Italiana, issued by the Italian company Stock in 1987. The group consists of two complete sets of three designs based on sculptures housed in the Museo Nazionale del Bargello, Florence. The designs include Benvenuto Cellini s Pegaso, a detail of the marble Davide by Donatello, and a detail of Bacco by Michelangelo Buonarroti. Each plaque is manufactured in silver-plated metal, identified on the reverse as metallo argentato al 1000. The reliefs are mounted on blue velvet-flocked backgrounds within gold-toned metal frames. Every plaque features an individual metal nameplate identifying the artist. The reverse of each frame bears a gold-coloured backing with printed descriptive text in Italian. Accompanying items include a blue velvet presentation folder, a white paper informational booklet, and a rectangular silver-plated lidded box with an applied heraldic crest on the lid.
Measurements: Each framed plaque measures approximately 7cm x 5cm.
Condition report:
The collection is in good overall condition. The plaques and frames show minor surface wear and light scratching to the gold-toned finish. The silver-plated box displays surface tarnishing and small scuffs consistent with its age. The blue velvet presentation folder and the paper booklet are well-preserved.
