Description
A collection of vintage and antique lithographed tinplate advertising and decorative containers, primarily of British and German manufacture. The assortment includes a large yellow Murrays Retriever Dark Flake Tobacco tin marked for Murray, Sons and Co. Ltd. Belfast; a yellow State Express 555 cigarette tin from 210 Piccadilly, London; a Lloyds Old Holborn Blended Virginia tobacco tin featuring a gabled building; and a red Players Medium Navy Cut cigarette tin with a George Rex (GR) cipher and crown. Confectionery and food tins comprise a round Smith London English Mixed Fruit Flavoured Tablets tin with sweet illustrations, a Haeberlein-Metzger Nurnberg tin for Lebkuchen, and a tall green tea caddy depicting a public building. Utility and decorative examples include a blue Motorists First Aid tin with MC emblem, a small orange cylindrical savings bank with GR cipher, and a large rectangular tin featuring a detailed Tudor-style half-timbered manor house illustration. The collection is completed by an octagonal floral tin, a pink-bordered tin with a Victorian domestic scene, and several smaller miscellaneous metal cases.

Condition report:
The collection is in varied as found condition consistent with age. Most items exhibit surface wear, including scratches, paint loss, and areas of oxidation or surface rust, particularly along the edges and lids. Some tins show minor denting and internal staining.
