Description
A vintage plush elephant toy, attributed to the manufacturer Steiff. The figure is constructed from a grey, short-pile mohair fabric and is firmly stuffed. It features two white tusks, likely made of celluloid or plastic, and small black bead eyes. A silver-toned metal button is fixed in the left ear, a characteristic of the Steiff ‘Button in Ear’ trademark. The elephant is modelled in a standing pose with its trunk curving downwards.
Condition report:
The item shows signs of age-related wear, including noticeable thinning of the mohair plush around the feet and along the seams. The original fabric ear tag is missing, although the metal button remains. The tusks and eyes appear to be intact.
