Lot 44:
Description
A collection of vintage student and hobbyist microscopes and associated laboratory equipment. The primary item is a silver-bodied microscope by Bresser Optik, featuring a revolving nosepiece and sub-stage illumination mirror. This unit is housed in its original blue cardboard box and molded white plastic tray. Included with the Bresser set is a boxed set of twelve prepared slides titled Kleine Lebewesen / Tiny Creatures, a blue plastic case containing dissecting tools such as a scalpel, spatula, and tweezers, and various vials, pipettes, and slides. The set is accompanied by a German-language instructional manual titled Mikroskopieren als Hobby.
The collection also includes two individual microscopes. The first is a cream-coloured unit marked Supertoys on the barrel with magnification settings of x 100, x 300, and x 600, featuring a battery-powered light source. The second is a black and silver-toned student microscope with a revolving nosepiece. These additional instruments are presented in green cardboard boxes, one of which is a repurposed champagne carton.
Condition report:
The items are in used, vintage condition with visible signs of age and handling. The Bresser Optik outer box shows significant wear, including tearing and creasing. The internal plastic tray and individual components exhibit surface dust and light marking. The mechanical movements and optical clarity of the lenses have not been tested. Accessory counts within the Bresser kit have not been verified against an original manifest. The two individual microscopes show minor surface wear and are housed in non-original packaging.
