Description
This collection comprises various religious artifacts including icons, wall crucifixes, and printed devotional materials. Notable items include a large framed icon of Our Lady of the Gate of Dawn (Ostra Brama) featuring a background of amber-coloured mineral chips. Two Orthodox-style wooden panel icons are present, one depicting Christ Pantocrator and the other the Theotokos Hodegetria, both with gilt-toned backgrounds and Greek lettering. A framed German devotional print titled The Unseen Guest depicts Jesus at a dining table with the inscription Komm Herr Jesus, sei unser Gast. The lot includes a group of crucifixes in wood and metal, as well as several books such as leather-bound Bibles with decorative gilt-tooling on the spines and a First Holy Communion souvenir booklet. Additional items include a small framed photograph of Pope John Paul II, a red vinyl pouch with gold-toned lettering reading PRAYER CHANGES THINGS, two metal relief plaques, and a small black-framed miniature painting of a windmill.
Condition report:
The collection shows signs of use and age consistent with domestic devotional display. The wooden icon panels exhibit minor surface abrasions and edge wear. The leather-bound books show significant rubbing to the spines, shelf wear, and bumped corners. Metal items show minor tarnishing and surface oxidation. Framed items exhibit dust accumulation and general ageing to the frames and backings.
