Lot 68:
Description
A lot comprising two different styles of British electric bells. The first unit is a vintage internal call bell or doorbell, constructed with a mahogany-coloured wooden backplate and a matching, removable rectangular cover. The interior displays an electromagnetic assembly with twin copper-wound coils, brass components, and a metal striker. A small white label marked Lot 68 is affixed to the side of the wooden base. The second unit is a larger industrial-style telephone extension bell, featuring a circular metal gong with a grey-painted finish and a dark blue moulded composite base. This unit includes a certification label on the reverse identifying it as approved for use with British Telecommunications systems, bearing the reference S/1000 G/021382. Both items are presented in an unwired state.
Condition report:
The items show wear consistent with age and previous service. The wooden call bell housing has surface scratches and abrasions. The metal gongs on both units exhibit some surface wear and minor oxidisation. The base of the BT ringer shows adhesive residue and scuffing. Both units are untested and sold as seen.
