Description
A vintage Vulcan Senior child’s hand-operated sewing machine, manufactured in England. The machine is constructed from die-cast metal with a deep maroon enamelled finish. It features a chrome-finished handwheel with a white handle and a detachable metal extension plate in a matching maroon finish. The arm of the machine is marked with the Vulcan logo and MADE IN ENGLAND, while the base carries the model name Senior in gold-toned script. The machine is housed in its original illustrated cardboard box, which displays period graphics of young girls and the slogan she sews as she grows… with a Vulcan. The lot is accompanied by the original printed instruction booklet titled Instruction Book for the lucky little lady with a Vulcan Child’s Sewing Machine.
Condition report:
The sewing machine shows signs of moderate play wear, including scattered paint chips and losses, particularly along the edges and at the point of attachment for the extension plate. The gold-toned decals remain mostly legible. The original box shows significant wear from storage and age, including scuffing, softened corners, tearing to the cardboard flaps, and general discolouration. The instruction manual is intact but displays age-toning and creasing. The mechanical operation is untested.
