Lot 87:
Description
This ornate mantel clock is designed in the Rococo Revival style, featuring an elaborate cast metal case with a brass-toned finish. The case is decorated with intricate openwork casting, scrolled foliate motifs, and is topped with a floral finial. The lower section of the clock is flanked by two seated figures in classical attire. The central octagonal housing contains a circular white dial with black Roman numerals and an inner minute track. The dial features a decorative filigree-patterned centre and ornate gilt hands. To the reverse, the mechanical movement is visible, featuring winding arbours and a setting key in situ. Markings are present on the movement backplate but are not clearly legible from the provided images. Visual characteristics and web consensus suggest the item is likely of West German manufacture from the mid to late 20th century.
Condition report:
The clock is in an untested condition. The cast metal case shows surface oxidation, minor wear, and dust accumulation in the crevices consistent with age. A winding key is present.
