Description

This lot comprises two folding pocket knives of different patterns. The first is a Laguiole-style folding knife manufactured by Arbalete G. David in Thiers, France. The slender yatagan-style blade is made of 440 stainless steel and features the Laguiole Extra stamp alongside the arbalete (crossbow) trademark symbol. The tang is marked G. David 440. The handle is constructed with dark scales, possibly horn or dark wood, featuring brass bolsters and a traditional shepherd’s cross decorative pin arrangement. The spring spine is decorated with a file-worked pattern and a carved bee at the pivot. The second knife is a single-blade folding pocket knife with a polished steel clip-point blade. The handle is fitted with multi-coloured laminated pakkawood-style scales in green and brown tones, secured with pins and finished with polished metal bolsters. This knife bears no visible manufacturer markings.

Condition report:

The Laguiole knife shows signs of light use with sharpening wear visible on the blade edge and surface patina and scratches on the brass bolsters consistent with age and carry. The laminated handle knife is in good used condition with minor surface wear to the bolsters and minimal sharpening marks. Both folding mechanisms appear functional.
