Description

A trio of antique miniature metal scoops and shovels, likely dating to the late 19th or early 20th century. The collection includes a white vitreous enamel scoop over metal with an integral D-shaped handle. Also present is a cast brass shovel with a flat rectangular bowl and a long handle featuring a barley-twist decorative section terminating in a double-knop finial. Completing the set is a cast pewter or lead-alloy scoop with a shell-shaped handle and a fluted or ribbed exterior to the bowl. These items are typical of Victorian and Edwardian household miniatures and kitchenalia, potentially used as tea caddy spoons or salt shovels. No maker’s marks, hallmarks, or inscriptions are visible on any of the items.

Condition report:

The enamel scoop shows significant wear and loss to the vitreous coating along the rims and handle, exposing the dark metal substrate beneath. The brass shovel is in good overall condition with some surface tarnish and light scratching. The pewter scoop displays a heavy, dark grey oxidised patina and surface pitting consistent with its age and material.
