Lot 121:
Description
A pair of nautical boatswain’s whistles, also known as bosun’s calls, of graduated sizes and similar construction. Each piece is made from mixed metals, featuring a copper-toned tube and a brass-toned keel and buoy. Both whistles are decorated with a relief anchor motif on the buoy. The larger whistle is fitted with a brass-coloured curb-link chain attached to the keel, whereas the smaller whistle is equipped with a spring-clip attachment. No manufacturer’s names, hallmarks, or serial numbers are visible on either item.
Condition report:
Both whistles show signs of surface tarnish and light oxidation consistent with age and material. There are minor surface scratches and evidence of light wear from handling. The attachments are intact.
