Lot 131:
Description
This is a late 19th to early 20th-century two-part wooden cigar mould manufactured by the German maker Denova. The tool is constructed from a dense hardwood, likely beech, designed to withstand the pressure of an industrial press. The mould consists of two interlocking blocks; the top section features twenty semi-cylindrical grooves that align with corresponding channels in the base to create twenty individual chambers for shaping tobacco. The base section is stamped with the manufacturer name DENOVA and the model number 37. Circular alignment holes are located at each end of the blocks to ensure precise positioning during the pressing process.
Length: 22.5 inches (57 cm).
Condition report:
The item is in good vintage condition and remains a complete two-part unit. The wood exhibits signs of age and industrial use, including surface scuffing, darkening from handling, and minor indentations, though it remains structurally sound.
