Description
A vintage mid-20th century multi-tier cantilever sewing box constructed from light-toned wood with a clear varnish finish. The structure features a central carrying handle secured with metal rivets and a three-tier cantilever mechanism that opens to reveal five storage compartments. The two upper lids are hinged and feature white stencilled circular designs, consisting of a central mandala pattern bordered by stylized bird or animal motifs. The interior contains an assortment of sewing notions, including spools of cotton thread in various colours such as red, black, and green, as well as embroidery threads on cardboard holders and vintage needle packets. One cardboard thread holder is marked with the text Klei: 108 and 70.
Condition report:
The item is in good vintage condition showing typical signs of age and use. There is noticeable wear to the varnish on the central handle from handling. The stencilled designs on the lids show some light scuffing and surface wear. The cantilever mechanism and hinges are functional and move freely.
