Description

This lot comprises a diverse collection of items including British and international medals, postal ephemera, and decorative metalware. Included is a 2002 British Queen Elizabeth II Golden Jubilee Medal in cupro-nickel, housed in its original blue presentation case. The obverse bears the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II with the legend ELIZABETH II DEI GRATIA REGINA FID DEF, and the ribbon is royal blue with red edges and thin white stripes. Two additional cased medals are present: one featuring a red ribbon with a central white stripe, and a miniature medal with a blue, red, and white tricolour ribbon. Ephemera consists of a document addressed in Dutch to Her Majesty the Queen at Soestdijk Palace (AAN HARE MAJESTEIT DE KONINGIN, PALEIS SOESTDIJK), a stamp album containing examples from the Netherlands and Iceland, and a small framed black-and-white portrait photograph. Decorative pieces include a walking stick with a curved horn handle and black shaft, a vintage Dairy Box tin containing silver-plated spoons and a miniature metal steamboat, cast metal figures of an elephant and a hippopotamus, a Victorian-style brass hand-shaped paperweight, a brass bell marked ST. MARIEN ZU, a brass protractor, and a wooden crucifix with a metal figure of Christ. Barware and miscellaneous items include a set of nesting metal cups in a tan leather case, a figural silver-coloured cork stopper, a pair of cast white-metal birds, a cased Park Lane miniature desk clock, a clear glass egg, and brass sugar tongs.

Condition report:

The items generally show age-appropriate wear and patina consistent with their varied origins. The Queen Elizabeth II Golden Jubilee medal and its case appear well-preserved. Metalware, including the brass and cast figures, shows various levels of tarnishing and surface oxidation. Paper ephemera and the stamp album exhibit expected yellowing and minor creasing. The leather case for the nesting cups shows scuffs and signs of use.
