Description
A cast brass perpetual desk calendar of square form, featuring a central sun-in-splendor motif in relief. This design is frequently associated with mid-20th century Italian brassware. The central circular dial is bordered by a numbered scale from 1 to 31. The lower section of the plaque contains two horizontal rows of Roman numerals, I through XII, representing the months of the year. Perforations are positioned adjacent to each numeral to accommodate marking pins for indicating the current date and month. The front face is further decorated with scrolled foliate motifs in each corner and a textured border. The reverse of the piece features a cross-hatched textured finish and is fitted with a hinged double-leg easel stand for tabletop display.
Condition report:
The calendar is in good structural condition. The original marking pins are absent. The brass surface exhibits a natural aged patina with areas of minor tarnish and surface oxidation consistent with age and use. The easel stand remains fully functional.
