Description
This lot comprises two vintage German Montblanc fountain pens The 14 carat gold nib is marked SIMPLO over 14K. The cap is engraved with the German inscription VON GEORG & CO. WEIHNACHTEN 1936. The second pen is of unattributed German manufacture, also made of black hard rubber with a gold-tone clip and cap band. The 14 carat gold nib is marked WARRANTED 14K. The cap is extensively engraved with a German dedication: DER FREUDE UND VERBUNDENHEIT DIES KLEINE ANGEBINDE VON IHREN DANKBAREN ANGESTELLTEN JULIUS… Both pens are equipped with knurled turning knobs at the base of the barrels, typical of early piston-fill or safety mechanisms. The collection is housed in a vintage gold-tone presentation box containing a warranty certificate (Garantieschein) for a LAMY 27 mit 14 carat Goldfeder.
Condition report:
Both pens are in fair vintage condition. and shows light surface wear to the ebonite and minor brassing to the gold-tone trim. The second pen shows significant oxidisation to the black. which has faded to a brownish colour, along with heavy brassing to the clip and cap band. Both nibs appear intact but require professional cleaning. The internal filling mechanisms both working
