Description
A modernist dress ring featuring a central oval amethyst cabochon of a deep purple colour. The gemstone is secured in a rub-over bezel setting atop a silver-toned metal mount. The design is characterised by its distinctive split, looped shoulders that join the head of the ring, reflecting artisan jewellery aesthetics of the mid-to-late 20th century. The setting is designed with an open back to the gemstone. Indistinct marks are visible on the interior of the shank, but they are heavily obscured by surface tarnish and oxidation, making them illegible.
