Lot 46:
Description
A mid-century desk or mantel world time clock by Junghans, of German manufacture. The clock is housed in a rectangular brushed brass-tone metal case with a single glass pane covering the display. The face is divided into two distinct sections. On the left is a gold-tone foil world map with vertical time zone indicators pointing to international cities including Midway, Hawaii, San Francisco, Chicago, Denver, New York, Rio de Janeiro, Azores, Reykjavik, London, Berlin, Cairo, Moscow, Tehran, Karachi, Calcutta, Bangkok, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Noumea, Sydney, and Auckland. A horizontal sliding 24-hour scale is positioned below the map. To the right is a circular white dial with black Arabic numerals 1-12 and a secondary outer 24-hour chapter ring. It features black hour and minute hands and a central gold-tone seconds hand. The dial is marked JUNGHANS, QUARTZ, and MADE IN GERMANY. The reverse of the case has a solid brushed metal panel secured by a top screw knob.
Condition report:
The clock is in good aesthetic condition showing minor surface wear and light oxidation to the metal case consistent with age. The glass is intact. The working status is untested; the quartz movement requires a battery to verify operation.
