Description

A late 20th-century brass wall clock of nautical design, constructed in the form of an eight-spoke ship’s wheel. The central circular housing features a silvered metal dial with black Arabic numerals for 1-12 and secondary smaller red Arabic numerals for 24-hour time (13-24). The dial includes an outer minute track with numeric indicators at five-minute intervals. It is fitted with black spade-shaped hour and minute hands and a slender orange sweep second hand. The dial is printed with the words SHIP’S TIME below the 12 o’clock position and features a small circular logo depicting a ship’s wheel above the word QUARTZ at the 6 o’clock position. The design is in the style of the Helmsman model produced by Seth Thomas. The reverse brass backplate is fitted with three pre-drilled holes for wall mounting and bears handwritten inscriptions in black marker reading 3.6.95 and 9.8.2000-. The clock is powered by a quartz movement.

Overall diameter including spokes: [Dimensions not recorded].

Condition report:

The brass surfaces show a naturally aged patina with visible tarnish, surface oxidation, and minor scuffing throughout, consistent with age and use. The reverse plate has handwritten inscriptions in permanent marker. The movement has not been tested for functionality, and the battery is not included.
