Description
A pair of vintage open-mouth jointed teddy bears, designed in the Zotty style characteristic of mid-20th-century German manufacturers such as Steiff and Hermann. These bears are constructed from golden-toned mohair plush with felt paw pads and mouth linings. Both specimens are fully jointed at the head, shoulders, and hips. The larger bear features amber-coloured eyes with black pupils and a peach-coloured felt-lined open mouth. The smaller bear has dark eyes and a shaggier mohair texture with an open felt-lined mouth. Both bears have black hand-stitched noses and mouth detailing. No manufacturer buttons, tags, or labels are present.
Larger bear height: 35-40cm (standing), 26cm (sitting)
Smaller bear height: 25cm.
Condition report:
Both bears show signs of play wear. The larger bear exhibits significant thinning and matting to the mohair, particularly on the back of the head and torso. The felt pads show discolouration and wear, with a visible repair or patch to the right foot pad. The smaller bear is in generally good vintage condition with some expected minor mohair loss and matting from age. It retains a small red ribbon around the neck.
