Description
A collection of tobacco smoking pipes in various traditional shapes, including billiard, bent billiard, and pot profiles. The lot comprises several pipes crafted from briar wood with both smooth and rusticated finishes, and one pipe featuring a light-coloured bowl characteristic of meerschaum. The stems are constructed from black vulcanite or acrylic. Several pieces feature identifying marks, including a stem with a white vertical bar and the letter M, another with a white letter T, and a third displaying a circular white emblem containing a letter. One pipe shank is stamped with London Made, and another is fitted with a decorative silver-tone metal band at the junction of the shank and stem. The assortment includes examples of both English and European pipe-making styles.
Condition report:
The collection is in used estate condition. All pipes show signs of previous use, including carbon build-up and charring to the rims, particularly evident on the light-coloured meerschaum bowl. Stems exhibit light tooth chatter and minor oxidation consistent with age. General surface wear, small scuffs, and scratches are present across the bowls and stems.
