Description
A bronze award medal issued by the Royal Academy of Music, dated 1927, produced by John Pinches, London. The obverse features a classical profile portrait within a beaded border. The reverse bears the circular legend ROYAL ACADEMY OF MUSIC at the top and INSTITUTED 1822 at the base. Centrally, within a laurel wreath, the medal is hand-inscribed DOROTHEA PRICE / PIANOFORTE / 1927. The piece is fitted with a swivel ring suspension and retains a deep brown patina. It is housed in its original red leatherette presentation case, featuring a blue velvet-lined base and a white satin lid lining marked with a diamond-shaped logo for JOHN PINCHES LONDON.
Condition report:
Extremely fine. The medal shows minor surface marks and light wear to the high points consistent with handling. The swivel ring is intact and functional. The presentation case exhibits external scuffing to the leatherette and light discolouration to the interior satin lining.
