Lot 97:
Description
A pair of mid-20th-century table gas lighters, fashioned in the style of traditional pewter measures. The vessels are crafted from a matt grey metal with integrated handles and flared bases. One lighter is prominently inscribed with LE DIX on the body, corresponding to a decilitre volume measure. The second lighter displays a series of small circular embossed marks near the upper rim. Each is fitted with a polished silver-toned metal lighter mechanism at the top, though the mechanisms show slight variations in design between the two pieces. These items are characteristic of European novelty table accessories produced during the 1960s and 1970s.
Condition report:
Both items exhibit signs of age-appropriate use, including surface scratches, minor oxidation, and light pitting across the pewter bodies. The mechanical lighter components show surface wear and are currently untested for functionality.
