Description

This lot comprises an assortment of British royal commemorative ceramics alongside East Asian blue and white wares and rustic pottery. The British commemorative pieces include a glazed porcelain teapot and matching milk jug celebrating the 1953 Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II with gilded highlights, a large coronation mug, a small mug marking the birth of Prince William in 1982, and a large blue and white transfer-printed plate for the 50th Anniversary of the Coronation (2003). The East Asian ceramics consist of several bowls and tea cups with hand-painted underglaze blue decoration on a grey-blue glaze, featuring floral and zoomorphic motifs. One bowl has a four-character mark in underglaze blue within the footring. Also included are a small grey-white stoneware pot and a rustic, unglazed brown earthenware vessel with a single pinched handle.

Plate diameter approximately 27 cm

Teapot height approximately 14 cm.

Condition report:

The British commemorative ceramics show minor surface wear and light rubbing to the gilded highlights consistent with age and display. The East Asian wares are in mixed condition; one larger bowl has a prominent vertical crack extending from the rim through the body, and one small tea cup has a significant chip to the rim. Typical production imperfections such as kiln grit and pinholes are present on the Asian pieces. The unglazed earthenware vessel has a coarse and weathered surface texture.
