Description

An assortment of collectibles comprising decorative vessels, surveying equipment, and military-themed ephemera. The collection includes a traditional large fur-covered wooden flask, resembling an Eastern European baklaha, featuring decorative leather appliqué, multi-coloured embroidery with a central starburst motif, a carved wooden stopper, and a wide leather shoulder strap. A mid-20th-century military pattern kidney-shaped metal canteen is finished in olive drab enamel with a corded cork stopper. A Spanish leather bota bag features a hand-painted illustration of a bullfighter and the text de España. Metalware consists of a polished circular stainless steel pocket flask with a central brass plaque marked DALVEY SCOTLAND, a rectangular hip flask with a black textured wrap, and a single black-finished cast metal bookend depicting a seated soldier. Tools include a circular leather-cased retractable tape measure embossed JAMES CHESTERMAN & SONS SHEFFIELD ENGLAND and a wooden folding rule with brass hinges. The lot is accompanied by an album containing a series of Crests & Badges of the Armed Forces printed cards, depicting insignia for units including the King’s Dragoon Guards, The Queen’s Own Hussars, and the Royal Armoured Corps, many featuring the post-1953 Elizabethan royal cypher.

Folding rule: Graduations visible up to 13 inches.

Condition report:

The items are in good vintage condition with signs of age-appropriate wear. The fur on the large flask shows minor thinning in isolated areas. The metal canteen exhibits typical surface scuffs and minor paint loss. The leather case of the tape measure is patinated with some surface abrasions. The trade cards and album sleeves appear well-preserved.
