Lot 134:
Description
A late Victorian mahogany balloon-style mantel clock, the waisted case decorated with satinwood stringing and a central oval marquetry patera. The scroll-shaped shoulders are mounted with four brass urn-form finials, and the clock rests on a stepped base supported by four small brass bun feet. The circular white enamel dial features Roman numerals and is enclosed within a brass bezel. To the rear, the piece features an exposed brass movement with a platform escapement. A circular maker stamp is present on the backplate depicting a central seated figure with surrounding text, though it is not clearly legible.
Height: approximately 28 cm.
Condition report:
The case shows general surface wear, minor scratches, and finish loss consistent with age, particularly to the base. The circular brass back cover for the movement is missing. The enamel dial appears intact. The movement has not been tested for timekeeping or mechanical functionality.
