Lot 140:
Description
This collection consists of several Chinese export items likely dating from the mid-to-late 20th century. It includes a small circular porcelain dish featuring underglaze blue decoration of a boy in a traditional landscape setting, housed in a red silk-lined brocade presentation box. The group features a carved stone seal set comprising a seal with a mythical beast finial and a red metal tin of seal paste marked with the Chinese characters 印泥 (Yinni) and the code YINNI 681. An assortment of Baoding health balls is present, with pairs in polished chrome and cloisonné enamel finishes, the latter decorated with goldfish and floral motifs. One set in a wooden box is accompanied by an instructional card in French detailing health benefits. Completing the group is a carved greenish-grey soapstone ornament with intricate openwork depicting traditional architectural and botanical scenes.
Condition report:
The items are in overall good condition. The porcelain dish and carved stone pieces appear intact with no visible chips or cracks. The fabric-covered boxes show minor surface wear and light fraying at the edges and corners consistent with age and handling.
