Description

A lot comprising two vintage clockwork toys of German manufacture style. The first item is a walking elephant figure featuring the name JUMBO lithographed in yellow on a red saddle cloth on both sides. Above the name is a small gold-toned four-lobed floral symbol. The figure is constructed from lithographed tinplate and features a side-mounted winding spindle and four articulated legs designed for a mechanical walking motion. The second item depicts a clown figure driving a two-wheeled cart pulled by a spotted donkey. The cart is decorated with a green and yellow harlequin pattern, and the clown wears a yellow suit with stars and polka dots. This toy is constructed from lithographed tinplate with cord reins and a cord tail. The clockwork mechanism is housed within the green cart. Both items lack original winding keys and packaging.

Elephant length: 13 cm

Donkey cart length: 18 cm.

Condition report:

Both toys show significant signs of age and play wear. The lithographed surfaces exhibit numerous scratches, chips, and areas of paint loss, particularly on the extremities and along seam lines. Small spots of surface oxidation and minor indentations are present. The elephant\'s trunk appears slightly distorted. The cord elements on the donkey cart show fraying and discolouration. Mechanical functions have not been tested.
