Lot 170:
Description
This Art Deco mantel clock, dating to circa 1930s, is housed in a square-form wooden case featuring highly figured walnut veneers, including burr walnut panels. The case is set with a chrome-finished metal bezel and is raised on a matching stepped plinth base. The square dial features a central panel of figured wood veneer to match the case, surrounded by a silvered chapter ring with stylised, geometric black Arabic numerals. The dial includes twin winding holes and black metal hands. To the reverse, the clock contains a mechanical twin-train movement striking on a coiled steel gong. The brass movement plate is stamped with the numbers 6840 over 288. A winding key is present inside the case.
Height: approximately 17.5 cm.
Condition report:
The case shows minor surface wear, small scratches, and patina consistent with age and use. The chrome bezel shows light pitting. The movement appears complete; however, it is sold as untested and would benefit from professional servicing.
