Lot 18:
Description
A wooden architectural-style stand, likely intended as a pocket watch holder or housing for a small circular instrument, dating from the late 19th or early 20th century. Constructed from dark-stained hardwoods, the piece features an arched top surmounted by three spade-shaped finials and is inset with a mother-of-pearl inlay in the form of a fish. The central panel contains a circular aperture, flanked by darker-toned vertical columns on a stepped plinth base supported by small bun feet. The reverse reveals a utilitarian construction with a horizontal support bar and a recessed area for object placement.
Width: 15.2 cm (6 inches)
Height: approx. 20.5 cm.
Condition report:
The stand exhibits surface wear, scratches, and minor loss of finish consistent with age and use, notably to the rear and upper edges. The mother-of-pearl inlay remains intact and the structure is stable.
