Lot 19:
Description
This lot features two mid-20th-century toy pistols of stamped tinplate construction with black painted finishes. The first is a semi-automatic style pistol featuring a long barrel and a rectangular frame embossed on both sides with the mark RECORD. It includes integrated diamond-textured grips and a simple metal trigger. The second is a compact revolver style toy embossed on the grips with the word IDEAL above a circular insignia containing the number 51. This model displays a stylized cylinder and features a moveable hammer and trigger assembly finished in a contrasting copper or brass-toned metal. Both items are characteristic examples of pressed metal toys from the post-war period.
Condition report:
Both items are in play-worn condition consistent with age. The Record pistol shows significant paint loss, surface scuffing, and visible areas of surface oxidation, particularly along the barrel. The Ideal 51 revolver exhibits moderate wear, including paint loss to high points, surface scratches, and light oxidation. The internal firing mechanisms for both pistols are untested and they are sold as-found.
