Description
An assortment of vintage pocket lighters together with a Marlboro promotional point-of-sale display. The collection includes a silver-tone rectangular lighter marked Colibri Monopol, Made in West Germany. Other examples exhibit designs and mechanisms in the style of Ronson, featuring various decorative finishes such as brown crocodile-skin effect wraps, a transfer-printed red rose motif, a gold-tone lighter with a faux-tortoiseshell panel, and an ornate cream-coloured lighter with black scrolling patterns. One silver-tone lighter is embellished with a raised cannabis leaf emblem. The group includes various other finishes including brushed and polished chrome, gold-tone, and black. The Marlboro advertising display comprises a cardboard point-of-sale stand featuring the Marlboro Man cowboy, advertising a free ashtray and lighter. The set includes the circular brushed metal ashtray and the matching cylindrical lighter with a brown textured wrap, both housed in a white moulded base.
Condition report:
The collection is in mixed, used condition. The Marlboro cardboard display shows significant wear, including creasing, corner bumps, and minor edge tears. The moulded base and metal components exhibit light surface wear consistent with age. The individual lighters show varying degrees of surface scratching, tarnishing, and wear to the decorative finishes. All mechanisms and fuel tanks are untested.
